About Simple Family Spanish LLP
Simple Family Spanish came to life when two busy mom friends realized they shared a passion for raising multilingual kids. But with their busy schedules, they knew one thing - it HAD to be simple. They had learned the hard way that the only way they truly learned languages personally was through immersion. So they wanted to create a curriculum for their families that made family immersion more realistic using basic routine.

Originally from San Luis Potosi, Mexico, Dr. Miriam Patterson (fluent in English, Spanish & French) learned English & French as an adult and wanted her kids to grow up knowing multiple languages. Miriam now teaches full time as a Spanish professor in the Modern Language Department. She defended her dissertation in August 2013 and obtained an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at Bob Jones University. She teaches courses like Grammar and Composition, Advanced Grammar and Composition, Conversation, Technical Spanish, Civilization of Latin America and Intermediate Spanish I and II.
Andrea Huerta (fluent in English and Spanish and a former university student of Miriam's) didn't grow up with Spanish in the home. Instead, she learned Spanish as a young adult by minoring in Spanish in college, jumping into Spanish conversations before she was ready, and forcing herself to use her Spanish when she worked in healthcare facilities. Spanish really clicked for her when she took a 10-day immersion trip where she wasn't allowed to speak any English. Because the combination of education, targeted vocabulary acquisition, and immersion worked so well for her, she wanted to use what she learned to help her kids grow up with the advantage of being bilingual. Since learning Spanish, she has translated in hospital and funeral home settings, consulted for Hispanic marketing clients since 2015, and fostered Spanish-speaking children.

In the midst of busy schedules, both mommas worked together to create a Spanish curriculum for the whole family! Woo hoo!

We hope you enjoy it!
